Novak Djokovic’s Quest for 100th Title Delayed as Miami Open Final Faces Weather Disruptions

Novak Djokovic's pursuit of his 100th career title at the Miami Open final against 19-year-old Czech player Jakub Mensik has been delayed due to rain and lightning in Miami. The match, originally scheduled for 3 pm local time (8 pm UK time), was postponed as weather conditions prevented play from commencing.

Djokovic, 37, aims to join tennis legends Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer in the exclusive "100 club," having secured his 99th title at the Paris Olympics last July. A victory in Miami would also mark his seventh Miami Open title and extend his record to 41 ATP Masters crowns.

Mensik, ranked 54th globally, has made an impressive run to his first ATP Masters 1000 final, including a notable semi-final victory over third seed Taylor Fritz. Reflecting on his journey, Mensik expressed excitement about facing Djokovic again, stating, "It feels incredible... I am a better player now, and I'm going to enjoy it; it's going to be really exciting."

The final's start time remains uncertain as organizers monitor weather developments. Fans and players alike await further updates on when play will resume.
